Halton’s NHS Services

Today I have had urgent conversations with both the Chief Officers of Halton Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) and Warrington & Halton Hospitals NHS Trust regarding the ‘My Choice Scheme’ at Warrington & Halton Hospitals. I am pleased to note that the scheme has currently been paused. I have submitted a series of questions to both the CCG and the hospital trust and will update my constituents when I have the answers.

With regards to the procurement contract for the ‘Walk In Centres’, in the past few weeks I have raised questions with Halton CCG and await the announcement of exactly who has been awarded the contract.

When I was first elected Halton desperately needed better health facilities. During my 22 years as Halton’s MP, I have made it an absolute priority to stand up for our NHS and campaign for better health services in Halton. I campaigned for more elective surgery to take place at Halton Hospital and for it to stay open when it was under threat of closure. I campaigned for the opening of the Runcorn Treatment Centre as an NHS facility, when it was in danger of going into private hands. I successfully campaigned for the Walk-In Centre in Widnes which is now a well-used Urgent Care Centre.

I put on record my thanks and appreciation to our NHS staff who do a wonderful job. I will do all that I can to keep NHS Services within our NHS, a high standard of health care and free at the point of use.
