I recently advised that I would update my constituents with any information I received regarding the procurement of service providers to run the Widnes Walk In Centre (Urgent Care Centre) and Runcorn UCC, following rumours that Halton CCG had awarded the contracts to a private sector organisation. I asked a number of questions of the CCG.
This afternoon I have been advised that the procurement recently carried out has been abandoned and that both Urgent Care Centres will continue in the interim to be run by their current NHS organisations. I will be asking Halton CCG further questions, not least how much this now abandoned procurement exercise has cost. I will continue to lobby for the Widnes and Runcorn Urgent Care Centres to be run by NHS organisations. You can read the letter I received from Halton CCG below.
